It may have also been used as a guard on a door opening grill, possibly for a jail, prison or military building.Made of all hand hammered wrought iron. Note the interesting crafting manner and the unevenness in the shape, from the primitive manner of production. Acquired in Rural Pennsylvania - American Colonial/Early American piece!
